GOLF CARTS HIT THE STREETS
We recently began to issue permits to golf cart owners who want to beat the high price of gas and use them as transportation. As of October 29th we have issued permits for 6 carts to be operated on the city streets. To be issued a permit the cart must have the following equipment:
1. A working head light
2. Two red tail lights
3. Brakes
4. A bicycle flag
5. A horn
The driver must be 18 years of age and the cart can not transport any more people than it is designed to seat. Carts are limited to 20 miles per hour and must travel to the far right of the roadway. They can cross 160 highway (12th St.) but can not travel along it, so trips to Wal-Mart and other businesses to the West are out of the question. For more details feel free to call the Lamar Police Department at 417-682-3546. Please share the road and travel safely.
